Stoneware Collectors' Sale and Lecture
The Stoneware Collectors' Group began in the late 1980s with an annual stoneware auction in Vermont.  Although the auction eventually ended, the stoneware dealers and collectors continued their periodic get-togethers in Bennington, VT to swap stories as well as stoneware.  The result was the Stoneware Collectors' Sale and Lecture, held twice a year, in the spring and fall.  The Friday/Saturday event includes a sale on Saturday, which is held rain or shine on the upper parking lot of The Paradise Inn, 141 Main Street, Bennington.  The hours of the sale are 9:30 am to 3 pm.  This is a wonderful opportunity to see a wide variety of stoneware, including some rare and one-of-a-kind examples.

A few years ago, the group partnered with the Bennington Museum to include a pottery-related lecture, which takes place at 4 pm on Friday at the Bennington Museum.  Past topics have included 'New Research on Bennington's Potters', 'Patriotic Designs on American Stoneware' and 'A History of the Cushman Pottery of Albany, NY.'  The lecture is included with the $10 admission to the Bennington Museum and those who would like to browse through the museum collections prior to the lecture may do so.

Please Note:  The Spring and Fall 2020 events have been cancelled due to concerns about the coronavirus (COVID-19).  The talk by Dave Potter and Peter Jablonski on the potteries of Buffalo, New York has been rescheduled for May 2021.
